Case Study

Solution, application and technical architecture for strategic biometrics programme

Description

UKBA needed to integrate their biometric capability with a number of external providers within UK government and also outside the country with international government agencies. The system will provide identity assurance through being able to determine those individuals that have been previously deported or refused a VISA.

UK Border Agency (UKBA) had been running a legacy biometric system since 2000. This system (IAFS) was ageing being near capacity from the perspective of resilience, biometric storage, biometric processing and ability to extend functionality to meet future business requirements.
