Case Study

Enterprise Architecture Capability Development

Description

MAPNA Group is a group of Iranian companies involved in development and execution of thermal and renewable power plants, oil & gas, railway transportation and other industrial projects as well as manufacturing main equipment including gas and steam turbines, electrical generator, turbine blade and vane, HRSG and conventional boilers, electric and control systems, gas compressor, locomotive and other pertinent equipment. MAPNA group is the largest contractor for steam, gas and combined cycle and renewable power plants in Iran. By 2015, over 100 projects with a total value of €30 billion were either commissioned or under construction by the company.

MAPNA systems were ageing dues to older legacy applications being significantly out of date and out of support, due to the procurement restrictions of international sanctions.

MAPNA Group has a strong strategic vision for the future and from the perspective of business resilience, disaster recovery and the ability to extend functionality to meet future business requirements, MAPNA group has embarked on a modernisation programme driven by an enterprise architecture approach.

MAPNA group has a large number of subsidiaries so a federated enterprise architecture approach was envisioned.
