Q: TOGAFTM 9 – Why all the fuss?
 
A: TOGAFTM 8 has been around for around 5 years and is a tremendous success. Major companies worldwide have adopted TOGAFTM. More than 8500 individuals have achieved TOGAFTM 8 Certification. However as the SWOT analysis that we carry out on every single training course shows, there are many areas where TOGAFTM 8 can be improved. TOGAFTM 9 addresses these calls for improvement, including:
 
  • Increased rigor including a formal Meta Model that links the artefacts of TOGAFTM together
  • Elimination of unnecessary differences
  • Additional guidelines and techniques, including
    • A formal business-driven approach to architecture scoping and segmentation
    • Business capability-based planning
    • Guidance on how to use TOGAFTM to develop Security Architectures and SOAs

Q: TOGAFTM 9 – Is it a revolution?
 
A: No. A design objective for TOGAFTM 9 was that it should represent a smooth transition from TOGAFTM 8. The basis structure of TOGAFTM, The Architecture Development Method (ADM), remains unchanged. All of the new material is added within that structure, which means that you can select which of new capabilities you adopt in your organization. No organisation needs to choose between TOGAFTM 8 and TOGAFTM 9. Nothing from TOGAFTM 8 has been lost in the evolution; much value has been added.
 
Q: What if I still need TOGAFTM 8 certification?
 
Our new course still meets all of the requirements for TOGAFTM 8 certification and is a certified TOGAFTM 8 training course. If you complete the course, you can still opt to become TOGAFTM 8 certified. You will know everything you need to know about TOGAFTM 8 and will also get an insight into the added value of TOGAFTM 9. If your organization has adopted TOGAFTM 8 you will be in a position to suggest how you can adopt new approaches from TOGAFTM 9.
 
Q: What are my options if I want TOGAFTM 9 certification?
 
TOGAFTM 9 certification is based on an external examination. Our new training course addresses ALL of the "learning outcomes" on which the TOGAFTM 9 examinations are based.
Enterprise Architects will, depending on the facilities available at different locations, either offer the opportunity to prepare for and take the TOGAFTM 9 examination, and will allow you to purchase a “voucher” that can be used at any Prometric examination center worldwide.
